Multi-brand search portal


The brief was to create a multi-brand search portal enabling Greene King customers to search for their nearest pub or hotel by town or postcode. The website needed to have a flexible platform for running campaigns and needed to be managed via a content management system which allowed in-house teams to add, edit and delete content.


The data for the website resided at different data sources within the business. Mobas created and set up automatic data feeds from one of the pub company divisions which ensured that data was current and up-to-date. Mobas also created a fully-fledged content management system to facilitate for on-going content updates to hotspots, masthead sliders and house profiles.

The search utilised the Google API which enabled customers to search by town/postcode and also proximity. The advanced search functions allowed customers to filter searches by facilities for example but not limited to ‘beer garden’ or ‘Sky Sports’.


A widely used pub search engine was created. The search results featured summary profiles of all houses within the estate and a clear call to action to visit the parent brand’s site, which has resulted in thousands of referrals to other Greene King owned websites.

As a multi-brand portal which enjoys high levels of traffic, the brand has been used for numerous third party above-the-line campaigns including Olympics (Coke), Euros, Carlsberg as well as Greene King owned brands. All campaigns feature landing pages and sign-up forms (including mobile versions) which result in the capture of incremental data.
