Driving public health engagement through strategic NHS campaigns

Client and context

The National Health Service delivers essential care and prevention services to communities across the United Kingdom. To improve engagement and encourage behaviour change across key areas such as blood donation, cancer awareness and vaccination uptake, NHS teams partnered with Mobas to deliver strategic, insight-led campaigns that connected with diverse audiences.

Challenge

The NHS needed campaigns that would:

  • address behavioural barriers among different demographic groups
  • communicate essential health information with clarity and reassurance
  • drive measurable action such as bookings, registrations and enquiries
  • align messaging with clinical pathways and operational realities.

Approach

Mobas combined research, service understanding and audience insight to shape compelling public health communication. We conducted behavioural mapping, reviewed service journeys and analysed what motivates action across different health contexts. Creative development focused on clarity, empathy and accessibility, ensuring messages resonated across all communities.

Solution

We delivered:

  • awareness and behaviour change campaigns for blood donation and cancer action
  • vaccination campaigns designed to reach at risk and underserved audiences
  • multi-channel creative including digital, print, outdoor and practice based messaging
  • simplified pathways that aligned campaign messaging with booking and service access.

Impact

  • Increased engagement and uptake across target health services.
  • Improved clarity and confidence among communities receiving health messages.
  • Stronger alignment between creative messaging and NHS service delivery.
  • Scalable campaign frameworks that can be applied across future public health priorities.

Why it worked

The programme was successful because Mobas approached each campaign as part of a wider public health system. By combining behavioural insight, strategic clarity and service-aligned creative, we delivered communication that both informed and empowered.
