Mobas appoints experienced brand strategist

Mobas has appointed experienced brand strategist Ruth Stapleton to strengthen its award-winning strategy team further.

Ruth Stapleton joins Mobas from Cambridge Assessment, where she was the Group Brand Manager working to develop, set and implement the brand strategy – including brand narrative, positioning, values, visual identity and tone of voice for one of the world’s leading education specialists.

Ruth has a wealth of brand and design experience, stretching back almost two decades. Working across the education and technology sectors, Ruth has developed a passion for branding. Her naturally creative side makes her the ideal candidate to further strengthen the growing brand strategy team.

Speaking on behalf of Mobas, Robin Bryant, Founder and Joint MD, commented “I’m delighted to have Ruth join the team. From our first meeting, we could see that she offered a unique mix of deep brand and design experience coupled with the ability to lead big, multi-layered branding projects for large and complex organisations.

“Her experience is the ideal blend for Mobas, and perfectly reflects our drive to help clients cut through to distracted consumers, with stand-out brand transformation programmes that will drive measurable business impact.”

Ruth said: “I’ve been aware of Mobas for many years and also had the privilege of seeing their brand strategy at work while sitting client-side with Cambridge Assessment. The firm’s vision for the future and wide array of clients made the decision to join an easy one. With a host of new wins under their belt, 2021 is set to be the brand strategy team’s biggest year, and I’m delighted to join at such an exciting time”.

The Mobas strategy team has had a phenomenal twelve months, winning national awards for brand strategy, gaining Partner Status from the Market Research Society, and helping an increasing list of businesses set their brand and strategy for a post-Covid world.

“It’s been an exhilarating time at Mobas. The pandemic has galvanised clients to step back and review their place in their market and ask big questions about their role, purpose, organisation structure and future plans. Our proven transformation programme has enabled brands to seek the clarity they need to shore up their foundations and step forward with confidence. Ruth joining the team not only gives us additional capacity to take on new work but also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from managing global projects client-side, ensuring that our outputs provide client teams with the tools to make an immediate positive impact,” commented Shelby Haslam, Director of Strategy.

In 2021 the Mobas strategy team has been appointed to support numerous clients, ranging from globally renowned brands such as the University of Cambridge, Cambridge University Press and BMJ to sector specialists such as Kingsgate, Colorminium, Habit Action and Frank Brown and Sons.

As we approach World Cup year in 2026, the branding, ball and other assets have now been released so we are starting to get a feel for how it will look.

But, it’s not just the visuals of the branding and sponsors which shape how the tournament feels, but also the kits.

This time, as expected, the majority of kits will be Adidas or Nike manufactured, with a few others in the mix. But I want to spend some time focusing on Adidas.

They’ve made a subtle change to their template, which I expect to start seeing across all of their club kits too in the 26/27 season. It’s so subtle you may not notice, or you may notice a difference but not be able to put your finger on it.
In fact, it’s a change that I’m surprised hasn’t happened sooner.

If this sparked a rethink with your brand, imagine what we could achieve together.
