Although we appreciate that every website build is different we go through the same four-step process with any new project so as to ensure that all considerations are met and we’ve scoped out and delivered successfully on the desired project objectives:
As with all our projects, we endeavour to understand the key goals and objectives of the new website design and development before we lay our pen to paper and start designing. Typically this consists of a half-day workshop getting to know you and understanding what you’re trying to achieve as a business:
- The strategic vision
- The project objectives
- The business and customer requirements
- The customer types and requirements
Once we’ve got under the bonnet of the company direction with a comprehensive insight into your business, and target audience, we can start to flesh out the website specification, defining the following considerations:
- User features
- Content strategy and key messages
- Site structure
- CMS extents
- Brand and design elements
- Goals and KPIs
It’s likely that a new web design and development project will be a replacement for a current site, in which case clients will often ask us to put together a UX report on the existing site as part of the scoping process for the new offering. We complete this report by:
- Using analytics to highlight traffic and behaviour flow
- Completing key user tasks, noting the usability against a severity rating system
- Mapping key user journeys and highlighting potential pain points
Once these steps have been compiled and presented to the client, we then head into the design phase.
With all the information gathered in the definition phase, our team of UX consultants, digital designers and developers get together to define the site architecture and user journeys to come up with a sitemap that caters for all the content required to deliver the key objectives. Within the design phase we produce the following:
- Design concepts with run-downs
- Responsive designs
- Style guide
- Content matrix
We have a good balance of front and back end developers and a team large enough to build a dedicated web development working group around each build, carefully guided by our account and project managers. We have extensive experience working across many different platforms and are confident in developing digital solutions including:
- CMS builds
- Bespoke development
- E-commerce web design and development
- Back office integration
- Social integration
Successful delivery of a website is a complex stage with internal and external testing and project sign-off on the table. Our processes have been developed through years of delivering websites to high standards and make sure that everything is taken care of to ensure that go-live goes without a glitch.
Once delivered, we also offer monthly analytic reports on the website health and varying degrees of support over and above the 8-weeks-free bug fixes.
This is why we become trusted digital partners to many of our website design and development clients.
